The shadchan fee is not an obligation. They only encourage you to give a shadchanus just like one would to any ‘regular’ shadchan.
They have people who run the whole gammut of observance levels. What you’re describing sounds like their category of ‘modern-machmir’, or something similar, which the site definitely caters to also.
