A rumor recently began circulating in the Belz community that a new community may be constructed in Givat Ze’ev, a community situated on the other side of the Green Line, bordering Yerushalayim near Ramot. According to a Ladaat report, the proposition for such a community was presented to the Rebbe Shlita, who appears to be considering the idea.
To date, the Rebbe has not given his approval for construction outside “Israel proper”, despite the existence of flourishing communities such as Betar Illit and Kiryat Sefer. Now however, it appears the possibility of building in Givat Ze’ev is being considered seriously. Rising costs in Yerushalayim are compelling chareidim to search for housing solutions elsewhere.
At present, the Rebbe Shlita has not approved the idea, but the Rebbe has approved gathering facts and making a presentation based on actual figures pertaining to the project.
If approved, the first stage of the new Kiryat Belz plan would provide 300 dwelling units. One of the primary considerations would be if and how the current political realities would impact the pace of construction.
The Rebbe Shlita is expected to arrive at a decision in the coming weeks. Should the project be approved, couples would be permitted to begin registering and this would be a factor in determining the cost of housing units.

Ir Karlin Stolin
Karlin Stolin is already there for over 10 years.
It is primarily a non frum neighborhood, which might be one of the reasons the Karlin Stolin Rebbi choose it, since he is very involved in kiruv.
I think it’s a great idea to expand Givat Zev a land that is truly ours.
I’m sick of hearing “THE GREEN LINE”, who made that line? The Israelis (lefty’s) of course!
They would not be the first ones there, since Karlin Stolin moved there 10 years ago. Although it is a very secular neighborhood, they get along very well.
To all the Geonim that know about Stolin etc. This is not the same Givat Zev, its in the same municipality, and around a 1/2 walk from Stolin. There are no Chilonim in the new Givat Zev at all.
Givat Zev has tons of shuls and many shabbos observering families living there.
Pisgat Zev which is also in Yehuda and Shomron (better known as outside of the green line) has begun a large apartment complex for avrechim from the Mir. The Belzer Rebbe will give his OK, just as other gedolim did for Kiryat Sefer, Beitar, and Modiim Illit.
