Iranian President Angered at Syrian Move Towards Israel

achm.jpgAccording to the London-based al-Shark al-Awsat newspaper, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was angered to learn in the media that Syria and Israel are engaged in dialogue towards a peace agreement.

According to the Arabic language paper, Iran is opposed to any talks, stating Israel is in no position to dictate preconditions to anyone regarding land while the Zionists continue occupying areas.

Relations between the two members of the Axis of Evil were strained, resulting in Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem traveling to Iran on the weekend to set the record straight and mend fences.

In the meantime, despite grandiose statements from Jerusalem regarding advancements towards peace with Syria, Syrian government officials and the state-run media are releasing statements that paint an entirely different reality. They are signaling Damascus has no intentions at present to cut ties with Hamas and Hizbullah.
