Insane. I’ve seen plenty of hate-filled comments launched at my fellow Chassidim (which is why I made this acoount), but I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an open display of racial vitriol on YW’s site. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen it anywhere.

George Floyd was no worse than your average black growing up in a slumland run by crime and violence. Already in his teens, he was arrested for drug trafficking, and in 2006 he was arrested for participating in an aggravated robbery, while in possession of a weapon (It is not clear whether George withdrew the weapon and threatened anyone).

Since then, George had more or less come clean although he still struggled with a drug addiction. He was an aspiring rapper as well as a professional basketball and football player. Once he moved to Minneapolis, he worked two jobs, one as a truck driver, and another as a security guard at a night club. He was described by those who knew him – former classmates as well as the director of the night club where her worked – as a “gentle giant” with a warm personality; a troubled man who was trying to turn his life around.

We should all be horrified and distressed by this outrageous, maddening, story. To feel otherwise is nothing short of psychopathic.
