[UPDATE BELOW] 7:00AM EST: A fatal MVA involving two cars and a tractor trailer on the BQE near the Kosciusko Bridge has shut down the highway in both directions.

Around 6:00AM on Thursday morning, a tractor trailer carrying cement headed southbound jack-knifed the median, charging into the northbound lane, colliding with two oncoming vehicles, CBS2 reports.

YWN has learned that two cars burst into flames, killing one person, leaving another in serious condition, and another in stable condition.

The NYPD investigation, and the cleanup of the roadway will take hours – so try to avoid the BQE which remains closed in both directions.

There is no word on the identity of the person killed as of this time.

UPDATE 7:55AM EST: One lane in each direction is now reported to be open. Please listen to your local traffic reports prior to travelling in the area.
