[VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE] Democratic candidate for Public Advocate Daniel Squadron was joined by his broad coalition of supporters from across the city to officially kick off his runoff campaign, Sunday morning, on the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall.
Squadron was joined at the kickoff by a dozen of elected officials and other supporters. “When you run a marathon, it’s a great feeling when you’re told turn around and do it again,” said. Mr. Squadron. “It was an amazing come-from-behind run.”
With 98 percent of the precincts reporting Wednesday morning, City Councilwoman Letitia James (D-35th) garnered 36 percent of the vote, with state Sen. Daniel Squadron (D-Manhattan/Brooklyn) coming in just behind at 33 percent.
A runoff is required if no candidate wins 40 percent of the vote.
