[UPDATE IN EXTENDED STORY] 9:21AM EST: The NYPD are looking for a man who mugged a woman on a subway platform early Tuesday in the fifth such attack in the past two weeks.

Police said the man uses the same, bold approach: He selects his female victim, grabs her purse, and then dashes into the subway tunnel to get away.

All the robberies have taken place in downtown Manhattan subway stations.

There is no specific pattern to the victims. The women are from different ethnicity’s and the age range is from 24 to 38.

UPDATE 4:35PM EST: CBS2 is reporting that the NYPD has arrested a man they believe to be the serial purse snatcher who has attacked numerous women on New York City subways.

The suspect has struck at least six times in the last 10 days, four of those incidents happening near the East Village.
