You are correct in the academical sense. But here we do not have any specific knowledge against this medrash, just we felt it was not right to bring it up. I think that was what bothered Milhouse. Just because it makes uncomfortable is not a permission to reject it. Personally, I do not think the medrash is backing up Someone’s explanation.
