Finance Minister Yair Lapid is accused of zigzagging by some after allocating 65 million NIS above the budget allocated to yeshivos in the state budget. Opponents of the additional funding question the minister’s decision, reminding him that the cuts in yeshiva funding represented “correcting a historic injustice” as Lapid put it as he drastically cut funding for yeshivos in both the dati leumi and chareidi sectors.
It is reported by Bayit Yehudi leader Naftali Bennett has been fighting for the additional funding on behalf of yeshivos, in line with his promise not to permit lomdei Torah to be harmed. Bennett was actually seeking an additional 150 million NIS, but Lapid only agreed to hand over 65 million NIS, which will be divided 80/20% in favor of chareidi yeshivos as opposed to hesder yeshivot.

lapid ‘s not worried he has many other areas where he’s planning to hit charedim. arnona, health insurance, registered charity status.
Lapid (and his supporters) would prefer to tax yeshivos rather than subsidize them – he is zigzagging to avoid his coalition partners who aren’t quite as fanatic in their hatred of Torah.
in america one party believes that the government should provide everything someone needsm the other party believes that private charity can do much better then the goverment.
lapid is against both no government $$ and no private money (tax exmept org.)

No. 3: Did you read the article? Lapid is contributing (with taxpayer money, not his own pocket) more than was authorized by the government. What are you talking about when you say Lapid is opposed to government and private money for yeshivas?
