PA Vows Never to Abandon the Right of Return

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) was among many signing a document vowing never to relinquish demands for the right of return for so-called Palestinian refugees, stating Israel will have to recognize this demand in negotiations towards a peace agreement.

Abu Mazen stated that Israel thought “we would forget,” but this is not the case, referring to the Nakba, the creation of the State of Israel, vowing to continue struggles towards bringing back the families and descendents of the many Arabs who fled in 1948.

Marches are expected on Thursday throughout Yehuda, Shomron and Gaza as the PA population marks the day, “The Catastrophe” as it is called in Arabic, the day on which Israel was granted statehood.

In Lebanon, there are threats of a March of Return, with thousands or tens of thousands marching on Israel’s northern border. The same threat holds true in Gaza regarding the border to southern Israel. IDF forces remain on alert in those areas.
