MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Rav Yisrael Eichler attacked the Bayit Yehudi party after payments to avreichim are being cut in line with Finance Minister Yair Lapid’s new plan. Eichler stated that “instead of defending Torah Jewry Bayit Yehudi has become the shmatte (rag) for Lapid and Netanyahu”. Eichler added that Bayit Yehudi failed to make good on its promise to return 130 million NIS to yeshivos above the budget allocated by Lapid, leaving many mosdos on the verge of collapse.
The chareidi MK adds that not only has Bayit Yehudi betrayed the chareidim, but their own constituents and yeshivos as well, as the drastic cuts in monthly child allowance payments will leave many dati leumi families without money to feed their children too.
Eichler explained that the only an announcement by Bayit Yehudi that it will break from the coalition over this issue will compel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to act to reverse the decision.
