Jewish prisoner Gur Hamel, who is serving a life sentence since 2000 after being convicted in the murder of an Arab near Yishuv Itamar, has launched a hunger strike. Hamel announced his hunger strike on Wednesday, 8 Elul 5773 in Eshel Prison in Beersheva.
Hamel announced that in light of yet another release of Arab prisoners, he decided to launch the hunger strike until such time he and all other Jewish security prisoners are released. Family members of the prisoner have told the media that prison officials have isolated Gur to prevent him from influencing others who might join the hunger strike effort.

He had previously been expelled from the IDF after involvment in multiple violent confrontations with Palestinian farmers. This is at least the third time he’s gone on a hunger strike to protest the release of prisoners. It’s going ot have little effect if the previous efforts are any indication.
we are light years away from aa true Jewish country …. Jewish murders of arabs get life and arab murderers of Jews go free after being given light sentences ….. there is no justice in Israel ….. we might as well hand the entire country over to the PA or hamas ….. the Jewish wimps in the government will eventually give into that, too …..
