Lots of nice songs out there but not enough to buy a whole album. What are you supposed to do if youd like to make a CD with various songs? I mean spending 10-15 bucks on every cd just for 1 or 2 songs doesn’t make any sense. Any ideas?
January 3, 2020 12:15 am at 12:15 am #1818048☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantWhat’s a CD? 🙂
(It sounds like you want to make a compilation CD, aka a mixtape. Correct if wrong.)
Single tracks are often purchasable in mp3 form.January 3, 2020 12:29 pm at 12:29 pm #1818182rightwriterParticipantYes a mixtape so to speak for the car. I’m aware of advanced technology but i still like using a CD for driving which I can control from the car buttons easily and not have to be distracted looking at the phone to change a song. Also CDs are disposable and I dont care if I forget it somewhere. Buying a song for $1 is still not so practical and not all albums offer that option.
I don’t understand why they don’t just put the album on YouTube they will be making more money having their songs up there rather than selling overpriced CDs. All the non Jewish music is on YouTube ready to be downloaded so if it works for them why not for the Jewish songs? Yidden would be able to listen to Jewish music much more.

YouTube is not a music sales platform, and I don’t think it offers downloads
of anything. You can make some amount of money on YouTube by allowing
YouTube to play ads on your content, but from what I hear, it’s not a lot
unless your view counts are very high. I don’t know if YouTube even has a
royalties system the way Spotify does (meaning artists are compensated
each time their music is played), and I’ve heard Spotify isn’t too profitable
for artists either. Can your car play music off a USB drive? That’s another option.
January 6, 2020 10:15 am at 10:15 am #1819293catch yourselfParticipantSpotify and Apple Music are both 15 dollars a month, so look at it like accessing all the music for the cost of 12 albums a year (although you don’t always get access to the newest albums right away).
You can create your own playlists (Spotify also allows you to access others’ playlists that aren’t private), which you can then navigate just as easily as a CD using your car’s controls.January 6, 2020 11:57 am at 11:57 am #1819332rightwriterParticipant” Spotify and Apple Music are both 15 dollars a month, so look at it like accessing all the music for the cost of 12 albums a year (although you don’t always get access to the newest albums right away).

January 6, 2020 11:57 am at 11:57 am #1819328rightwriterParticipantYouTube revenue is mostly ad based yes. Anyway all the non Jewish music is on YouTube so they must know what they are doing. They know that people download YouTube videos via software. But they still have their music on the site.
“Can your car play music off a USB drive? That’s another option.”
-its not about the methods to play music, it’s about having the actual content to play. Again buying full albums is not practical at all and not all offer individual song purchase and even if they do that would still add up to a large sum of money. People have 100s of songs in their collection nowadays. Someone told me just don’t listen to music then. That’s not the answer I’m looking for.
True there is car radio, but last I checked they don’t play Jewish music there.January 7, 2020 8:24 am at 8:24 am #1819651☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲Participanteven if they do [offer individual song purchases] that would still add up to a large sum of money.
So?

Sounded like you have the capability to play the music off your phone, but that you didn’t want to have to look at your phone while driving.January 8, 2020 10:00 am at 10:00 am #1820943rightwriterParticipantCatch yourself”Sounded like you have the capability to play the music off your phone, but that you didn’t want to have to look at your phone while driving.”
-no I was just kind of defending why I like the old school CD before people try to point out how it’s a thing of the past. Also saying that I know there are apps that offer free Jewish music but yes I would still have to look at phone and connect it to the car if possible depending on the circumstances, and also need Internet connection. If I had the songs available I would just transfer it to a CD so no I don’t have most of the songs I’d like.
Random”So?”
-so again this discourages from being able to listen to more Jewish music since it would cost a fortune. If apps such as jewish music.fm can offer all albums for free listening, or non Jewish artists can have all their music free on YouTube, why isn’t it readily available for most Jewish music as well?
Is listening to Jewish music a privilege only if you can afford the expense? Someone who isn’t so into Jewish music will definitely not pay so much just to give it a chance. Besides ive already mentioned that many albums don’t have the individual download offer so that takes us back to the impractical option of purchasing full albums for a high price just for 1 or 2 songs.January 9, 2020 1:55 am at 1:55 am #1821246☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantThe ways in which Jewish musicians can make money, and their potential audience numbers, are far more limited than those for non-Jewish musicians. What the latter does is not a basis for expectations of the former.
There are ways to listen to large amounts of Jewish music without great expense. They just can’t help you make a mixtape CD (which is also true for non-Jewish music).
(If you have the time, you could always audio-record the music you
want playing from a free source and then put that audio onto a CD,
though this might well result in quality reduction.)January 14, 2020 9:30 pm at 9:30 pm #1822821JzqParticipantMaccebeats
