Veteran chareidi politician Yehoshua Pollack, who today serves as the treasurer for Betar Illit, indicates he plans to return to the capital, hoping to land a deputy mayoral post in the upcoming municipal elections.
In the last Jerusalem election Yossi Deutsch was in the second slot on the Shlomei Emunim list, with Meir Porush leading that list in his bid to become the mayor of the capital. While Porush lost the election, Deutsch was successful in becoming a deputy mayor as a result of negotiations with Mayor Nir Barkat. Today, Pollack hopes to grab the first position on the Shlomei Emunim list.
Shlomei Emunim leader MK Meir Porush has yet to comment on Pollack’s planned return. It should be pointed out that a recent poll showed Deutsch earned high popularity ratings among chareidi voters, 78%.
