Every hour on the hour, starting at 11 a.m. EST on Thursday Erev Lag B’aomer, Oorah will select a lap-top winner from the pool of those who have entered the raffle. One winner will be selected in each drawing.

The lap-top giveaway is Oorah’s way of revving up the excitement for the campaign that launched at Chanukah time and concludes with prize drawings at 2 a.m. on the May 31 Radiothon.

Proceeds from Oorah’s famous auction support the organization’s extensive kiruv efforts, which include yeshiva enrollment and tuition, TorahMates chavrusa program, GirlZone and BoyZone summer camps, Shabbat With Oorah weekends, Yom Tov gift packages to 1,800 families on Sukkos, Chanukah, Purim,  Pesach and, Shavuos, a wide network of volunteer mentors, Big Brothers and Big Sister, and The Rebbetzins, a new shadchan network geared toward children from baal teshuva backgrounds. 

“These are just some of our formal programs,” says Oorah’s spokesman. “Really, what we are doing is taking a family in hand and giving them everything they need, every step of the way, to grow in their Yiddishkeit. It takes a tremendous amount of money, and the Auction is one of the primary fundraising programs we count on to keep us going.”
