Is it Assur? Well since it is not in your Bubbies recipe……..for you maybe. As to others there is no issur melacha on Chanukah. Is it assur to warm up latkes in a regular oven on Chanuka?
I suggest that what Rabbi Debbie really meant to ask was: Does eating air – fried food exempt me from my obligation to eat something fried in oil?
The answer,of course, is no. Eating oil-fried foods on Chanuka is an important minhag, and should not be neglected.
That said, once you have eaten the required amount of oil-fried foods, you are of course welcome to fry the rest of your food in air.
Goldilocks what is the minimal amount of deep fried food one must eat? A kezayis? It is a regular sized kezayis, or the kezayis people use to not have to wash/bentch for pizza?
