Police accident investigators arrested a driver for questioning after the driver stuck a pedestrian in Jerusalem. Police suspected the driver was driving while intoxicated (DWI) and a breathalyzer was administered. The victim sustained only light injury B”H. The breathalyzer showed his blood alcohol was four times the legal limit, reading 1230.
Police on Monday afternoon were summoned to Mexico Street in the capital following the accident. The pedestrian who was struck was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 50-year-old driver, a Jerusalem resident, was detained and his license suspended. He was also summoned to a hearing with an officer, during which is license is likely to be suspended for a prolonged period of time.
In Tel Aviv on Tuesday afternoon, a 60-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Olei Tzion Street. After successful resuscitation, the was sedated and intubated and transported to a local trauma unit in “very serious” condition in a MDA ambulance.
