160 Tires Slashed In Jerusalem’s Shuafat Neighborhood

Police were summoned to Shuafat on Monday morning, December 9, 2019, regarding many vehicles that had been vandalized in the Jerusalem Arab neighborhood during the night (Sunday to Monday).

Tires of 40 vehicles, 160 tires, were slashed during the night in addition to graffiti painted on a wall in Hebrew saying, “When Jews are stabbed, we do not remain silent”.

A large force headed by Kedem District Commander Assistant Commissioner Doron Turgeman arrived. The force includes forensic experts and others, and the investigation began after police saw the damage first-hand, citing a number of masked persons took advantage of the nighttime darkness and inclement weather conditions to perpetrate the attack.

Police established a command center towards assisting the owners of the vehicles damaged, notifying them, and then taking statements when they arrived at their vehicle. Police also issued the required forms on the scene towards expediting the process by which the victims can collect the money to repair the damage from the government, as well as offering victims logistical assistance.

The surveillance video shows vandals going from vehicle to vehicle.
