Fourteen Year Program for Learning Shas B’Iyun for Kollel Avreichim

It started with a letter from the Sar HaTorah, HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, shlita, to the Nasi of Dirshu, Rav Dovid Hofstedter, shlita. “Now is an opportune time to establish a seder limud in kollelim whereby avreichim can learn one daf per day. This provides a tremendous benefit for kollel avreichim who wish to learn Shas b’iyun in an orderly fashion.”

In the wake of that letter, Dirshu has established a new program called ‘Daf HaKollel’, aprogram that will comprise of one daily daf during the days that kollelim are in session.

Rather than the normative Daf HaYomi schedule, the ‘Daf HaKollel’ will be structured in a manner fitting for avreichei kollel who will learn the masechtos in an order that will enable them to best focus on limud b’iyun.

A large gathering graced by numerous Gedolei Torah was held last week to celebrate the establishment of the program. HaGaon HaRav Boruch Dov Diskin, shlita, Rosh Yeshivas Orchos Torah and Rosh Kollel of the network of Nachlas Moshe and Halichos Moshe Kollelim, who has been very involved in creating the program related, “We are talking about a program that will enable kollelim all over the world to open a special Daf Hakollel track that will have a very clear learning schedule and program. There will be whole day tracks and half day tracks. The plan is that during the zeman, each kollel will learn 20 blatt.”

HaGaon HaRav Dovid Miller, shlita, a Rosh Yeshiva at the Ponovezh Yeshiva, encapsulated theunique niche that the Daf HaKollel program fills. “Today we have thousands of yungeleit who want to truly acquire wide-ranging knowledge of all of Shas. On the other hand, they don’t want to learn Shas superficially, but rather slowly and with iyun. This program will give them the unique opportunity that they seek.”

As the World Siyumim nears, Dirshu is already at work laying the groundwork to prepare Klal Yisroel for even greater achievements and more limud haTorah with accountability.
