It is definitely a victory for Gideon Saar as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday gave in to mounting pressure, agreeing to hold party primaries to determine the leadership lineup of the party. Saar did not waste time responding, releasing a statement to the media on Sunday evening praising the decision, hoping to unseat Netanyahu and become the next generation leader of the party.
However, Saar stated he is not pleased with the decision to hold elections within six weeks, as was decided by Netanyahu. He is asking to have the election during the current ’21-day period’ to permit the new party leader to present his coalition government and thereby avoid a third round of Knesset elections.
