Assembly Speaker Silver has appointed a former Manhattan judge to the state’s Joint Commission on Public Ethics.
Renee R. Roth will replace Patrick Bulgaro, who resigned on Tuesday after serving since the commission began regulating lobbying and ethics two years ago.
Roth presided over the Manhattan Surrogate Court from 1983 to 2008.
She now works for the law firm of McLaughlin & Stern in Manhattan. She’s also an adjunct professor at the Fordham University School of Law.
She once served on the Commission to Promote Public Confidence in Judicial Elections.
The ethics commission members serve five-year terms and receive a per diem for doing commission work.
