Not Bernie Sanders or Madoff
November 11, 2019 3:45 pm at 3:45 pm #1799364GoldilocksParticipantI really try to love all Jews.
I don’t think I have ever had difficulty loving a fellow Jew because of religious or hashkafic reasons.
I have, however, encountered other Jews whose personality, habits, or behavior really get on my nerves.
Yes, I know,…something I need to work on…November 11, 2019 3:45 pm at 3:45 pm #1799356Reb EliezerParticipantA tinuk shenishbo and a Torah following Jew, yes but ומשנאך ה’ אשנא and OTD who studied in Yeshivas is hard to love.
November 11, 2019 3:45 pm at 3:45 pm #1799367GadolhadorahParticipantNor those who ar in positions of power (or very close to those who are) and rmain silent in the face of evil

November 11, 2019 6:27 pm at 6:27 pm #1799472GadolhadorahParticipantKY: He had some fairly storng wrods for certain segments of the tzibur whose practices and behavior he did not approve of. Whether this was “tough love” or simply the Rav delivering his own unique brand of musar is hard to tell.
November 11, 2019 7:19 pm at 7:19 pm #1799500lakewhutParticipantGH watch what you say about a Gadol.
November 11, 2019 8:57 pm at 8:57 pm #1799510Yabia OmerParticipantLakewhut, what did she say that was so bad?
November 11, 2019 10:16 pm at 10:16 pm #1799523☕️coffee addictParticipant“Lakewhut, what did she say that was so bad?“
I also thought GH was a she bit the delivery of his posts show otherwise
FYI the reason for the mix up is probably because of the ah at the end of the name
November 11, 2019 10:17 pm at 10:17 pm #1799528770girlParticipant@klugeryid we are all suppose to have such ahavas yisroel that we love every jew no matter what. Ofcourse it can get hard sometimes but we have to remember that thats the right thing.
November 11, 2019 11:27 pm at 11:27 pm #1799539klugeryidParticipant770 no not really we are not enjoined to love purposeful sinners.
As a matter of fact we are supposed to hate themNovember 12, 2019 8:00 am at 8:00 am #1799678YesOrNoParticipantYes! I love every Jew. I daven for every Jew. Even the ones who I don’t agree with. Even those that I know are wrong. I love them and daven for them all the time!!!
November 12, 2019 8:19 am at 8:19 am #1799717JosephParticipantWho do you have in mind when davening V’Lamalshinim?
November 12, 2019 8:19 am at 8:19 am #1799718Yabia OmerParticipantBest answer goes to YesOrNo. No pilpulim, no neurosis. Just a genuine, straightforward answer.
November 12, 2019 10:16 am at 10:16 am #1799769🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantJoseph-my husband asked rabbi Ephraim Twerski that question and he stood to have in mind the open orthodox
November 12, 2019 10:24 am at 10:24 am #1799793☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhich leads to the question: are we supposed to love the people included in the brocha of V’lamalshinim?
November 12, 2019 11:03 am at 11:03 am #1799799Reb EliezerParticipantThe Rabbenu Bechaye in Parshes Ki Siso says on ולא יהיה בהם נגף בפקוד אותם, if you look at the Jews as a whole, you find no faults in them, but if you count them normally, you separate the bad from the good. They say that is why Bolok only wanted Bilom to see part of the Bnei Yisroel, because Bilom cannot affect the whole. So as a whole, we love all Jews.
November 12, 2019 11:03 am at 11:03 am #1799796JosephParticipantSyag – they fit right in. His answer equally applies to any former frum person.
November 12, 2019 11:03 am at 11:03 am #1799798JosephParticipantDY – It says V’ahavta L’Reacha Kamocha. So it is limited to those who fall within the proper definition of reacha.
As they say, don’t risk your chelek of olam haboh by being too selective in your choice of who is “Reacha” based on your lack of empathy and understanding of others whose hashkafah is different from yours
November 12, 2019 11:58 am at 11:58 am #1799857MenoParticipantYes or no answers only please.
You people are bad at following directions.
November 12, 2019 12:38 pm at 12:38 pm #1799867Reb EliezerParticipantThe Ramban asks, why doesn’t it say veohwvto reacha? He answers it is impossible to love your fellow man like yourself since a person is closest to himself. The Sefer Habris explains that the Torah commands him that what he expects his friend should do to him, he should do to his friend.
November 12, 2019 12:55 pm at 12:55 pm #1799871GadolhadorahParticipantA yid cannot just give a “simple” yes/no to a very complex question….. we must bring down and illuminate BOTH sides of the issue before providing a reasoned, non-committal opinion.
November 12, 2019 1:19 pm at 1:19 pm #1799876YosselehParticipantI try my best, but there are some exceptions. Jews who collaborate with anti-semites, Jews who hurt other Jews directly and the troll who posts as Joseph are exceptions.
November 12, 2019 2:12 pm at 2:12 pm #1799895☕️coffee addictParticipant“ and the troll who posts as Joseph are exceptions.”
What did joe do to you?
November 12, 2019 2:12 pm at 2:12 pm #1799897anonymous JewParticipantThis question is not so simple. The Vilna Gaon considered the chassidim as if they were Open Orthodox and refused to have any dealings with them. The two factions of Satmar dislike each other . Whenni was growing up, brawls between Lubavitch and Satmar were not unusual.
November 12, 2019 3:40 pm at 3:40 pm #1799916knaidlachParticipantanonymouse jew.
we are talking here about LOVING all jews. you can love all jews and at the same time not agree with them. i do not believe that the Vilner Gaon HATED any jewNovember 12, 2019 3:40 pm at 3:40 pm #1799920ChesterfieldIsGeshmakeParticipant@anonymous Jew, there is a difference between them and open orthodox. The chassidim never did something to make the Torah pleasing to the goyim by subverting halocho to suit their personal interests or denied any fundamental part of the Torah like the coming of the Moshiach or kotbonos, and the same goes for the lubavitch and Satmar. The same cannot be said for Open Orthodox.
November 12, 2019 3:41 pm at 3:41 pm #1799926Yabia OmerParticipantAnd yet you never hear Sephardim having any machloket …. Did you ever ask yourselves why?
November 12, 2019 4:46 pm at 4:46 pm #1799945laughingParticipantI don’t
November 12, 2019 6:37 pm at 6:37 pm #1799947ChesterfieldIsGeshmakeParticipant@Yabia_Omer, that’s because sefardim weren’t influenced by the Haskalah movement in the same way ashkenaz I’m were so you don’t get all these branches of kefirah like reform or conservative in sefardi judaism. In general the split is between frum and not yet frum as opposed to orthodox, open orthodox, conservative, reform and so on.

Ever heard of the karaim?
November 12, 2019 6:50 pm at 6:50 pm #1799967🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantJoseph- no, not at all.
November 12, 2019 7:24 pm at 7:24 pm #1799986Shimon NodelParticipantעמך בתורה ובמצות
November 12, 2019 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm #1799987JosephParticipantSyag – why do you say not?
November 12, 2019 9:23 pm at 9:23 pm #1800048Yabia OmerParticipantSatmar vs. Lubavitch. Bobov vs. Bobov. Mitnagdim vs. Hasidim. Etc. Etc. It’s funny we never see this among Sephardim. Why is that?
November 12, 2019 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #1800057🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantJoseph- you can’t just throw in random additions to comments made by people you never met. The chasm between former frum and open orthodox is huge. It’s not even the same boat. I quoted him, and if you want to alter his words then please call him and discuss it first.
November 12, 2019 10:14 pm at 10:14 pm #1800063☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSatmar vs. Lubavitch. Bobov vs. Bobov. Mitnagdim vs. Hasidim. Etc. Etc. It’s funny we never see this among Sephardim. Why is that?
Because most Satmar, Lubavitch, Bobov, Litvish, and Chassidim aren’t Sephardic.
Similar to the way you won’t find Mashadi vs. Tehrani among Ashkenazim.
November 12, 2019 10:44 pm at 10:44 pm #1800066ObserverParticipantClarify question.
Love all Jews or Love all Israelis
November 12, 2019 10:44 pm at 10:44 pm #1800065zahavasdadParticipantSephardim dont even have disputes with non-relgious. In fact the Non-religious respect their Rabanim
November 13, 2019 12:18 am at 12:18 am #1800078jdbParticipantWe can and should try to love all Jews. Even when there is machlokes or milchemes hashem, my rabbeim taught to love the person and disagree with what they are doing. Standing up for emes doesn’t mean hating someone who does something incorrect. It means davening for their teshuva.
November 13, 2019 1:42 am at 1:42 am #1800121MilhouseParticipantAnd yet you never hear Sephardim having any machloket …. Did you ever ask yourselves why?
Because you’re not paying attention. Sefardim are just as machlokes-prone as Ashkenazim, or more.
November 13, 2019 7:42 am at 7:42 am #1800158anonymous JewParticipantYou’re missing the point. The philosophies of Chassidus and Open Orthodoxy are totally different but the Vilna Gaon viewed Chassidus like we view OO. What I said was the Vilna Gaon treated Chassidus beliefs ( i.e. miracleworker rebbes and visions ) as close to , if not in fact , Kfira and excommunicated them. The Misnagaid vs Chassidus war didn’t calm down until the mid 1800’s when they both realized that they were fighting over a smaller pie as more and more Jews were being lost to the Haskala.
As far as the other arguments, the Satmar factions, Lubavitch vs Satmar etc didn’t just disagree. They had a true personal dislike as there were physical assaults , property damage and ( as Joseph keeps overlooking) long ongoing CIVIL lawsuits in gentile courtsNovember 13, 2019 7:45 am at 7:45 am #1800183lakewhutParticipantzahavasdad that’s not 100% true.
November 13, 2019 7:56 am at 7:56 am #1800199laughingParticipantIf all Jews loved each other and acted like they were created in the image of g-d then mosiach would have arrived ages ago.
