The continued unseasonably hot and dry weather in Eretz Yisrael has compelled the fire department to issue a fire alert. Temperatures in Jerusalem over recent days have neared 80F, and this is expected to continue and possibly increase slightly in the coming days, continuing until Monday or Tuesday.

This, according to the Israel Fire & Rescue Service, has led to the outbreak of fires as the fields are extremely dry, mimicking conditions during the summer months.

27 fire apparatus and four firefighting planes battled a large brush fire between a Golani Brigade training base and Givat Nili near Highway 6 on Wednesday afternoon.
