MI K’AMCHA YISROEL: Hundreds Of Jews Stranded In Airport In Barcelona; Chabad Delivering Hundreds Of Hot Meals

Hundreds of Jews are currently stranded in the airport in Barcelona without Kosher food.

They were on Norwegian Air Flight number DY7195 from Israel to NY.

Passengers tell YWN that the flight was delayed before it even left israel, and it made a stop in Barcelona. The passengers were told there were “technical delays”, and at this point they have been on the ground in the terminal for nearly eight hours with nothing to eat.

One mother told YWN that her children have been drinking water and Sprite as there is nothing else, and they are not being allowed to exit the airport without visas. Babies have no diapers left, children are sleeping on the floor, and the frustration is kicking in.

Thankfully, Chabad of Barcelona headed by Rabbi David Liberson is (as this is being written) preparing hot meals for them. The attached photos were provided to YWN moments ago.

Mi K’amcha Yisroel!

  1. In the merit of Rabbi Levi Yitzchok m”Berditchev, they should please leave soon, have a safe flight back, and be compensated for their trouble. Hashem should bless Chabad of Barcelona for its selfless assistance.

  2. Chabad are awesome 🙂

Please check facts before publishing. Norwegian flight DY7195 is a flight from Barcelona to New York. This flight was cancelled today. Norwegian also fly from Tel Aviv to Barcelona (different flight, different flight number) but they definitely don’t fly from Tel Aviv to New York direct

Good news is that each and every passenger will be eligible for a €600 compensation payout (in addition to food, drink and accommodation) in line with EU Regulation 261. I’d imagine that equates to a full flight refund for many and will hopefully translate into some generous donations to Chabad of Barcelona!!

  3. Chabad is just INCREDIBLE!!! ALWAYS helping EVERYONE!! And just imagine, the Passengers are coming mainly off of vacation, the Shliach is coming off of his and his wife’s BUSIEST month.

I am absolutely not stopped impressed with these guys!

  4. kol haKavod to Chabad.
these meals are really something super special. Maybe next time I should miss my flight so I can get a great meal from Chabad instead of eating the disgusting garbage that is called kosher airplane food?

  5. Neither Israelis or Americans need a Visa to go to Spain. Spain is part of the EU which allows VISA free travel for americans and Israelis

  6. huju, the Lubavitch do great things but the Moschiach will not come until all Jews get along with each other and act like the children of G-d.

  7. Im starving.

    Do they deliver. 🙂

Kol Hakavod to Chabad. Every person that gives Maser should donate some of the proceeds to Chabad. These are just good people.

  8. Compare this to another case of airline delay several years ago reported here on YWN where passengers were stranded at some remote airport for an extended time and got zero help from their airline or local airport airport authorities and after about 10 hours of no food, the Pilot and Flight crew ordered pizza for the passengers from their own credit cards.

  9. Are there no other Jewish communities in Barcelona besides Chabad?!

I see there is an established Kehilas Bat David with a respected Rov who gives a hechsher (Badatz of Barcelona) on a fleishig restaurant and a falafel shop etc. I would expect the entire frum community to step up to the plate and do true hachnosas orchim and chesed.

  10. Rebbitzen: Im glad you have high expectations. How do you know what is going on in Barcelona? Maybe this respected Rav has collaborated with the chabad shliach and this was the plan of action decided by them.

  11. lowerourtuition11210: That is EXACTLY my point. If other communities stepped up to help these stranded Yidden, why is Chabad getting all the fanfare and credit??? Let us praise ALL the wonderful communities that answered the call. “Mi K’amcha Yisroel!” for each of you that said Hineini.

  12. rebbetzin: as usual with your posts I reread it three times and did not see that was EXACTLY your point.
To me you were issuing a complaint about the rest of the yidden in Barcelona.

  13. Gut voch ALL the food who was delivered to the airport by my husband Rabbi Libersohn the chabad shaliach in Barcelona was organised ONLY by chabad.
Bh we were zoiche to host this past shabbos 300 jews from all over the world for the shabbos meals at the chabad house.

  14. Gut voch ALL the food who was delivered to the airport by my husband Rabbi Libersohn the chabad shaliach in Barcelona was organised ONLY by CHABAD OF BARCELONA.
Bh we were zoiche to host this past shabbos 300 jews from all over the world for the shabbos meals at the chabad house.

  15. nlibersohn: Are you saying that NO ONE else from the other Jewish communities in Barcelona came to help the stranded Yidden?!
Are you saying the other rov/rabbonim didn’t help out?!
Are you saying the kosher food restaurants didn’t donate food?!
It’s hard to believe that no one else other than Chabad came out with food and hachnosas orchim.
If that is so, instead of “Mi K’amcha Yisroel!” it should say “Mi K’Chabad B’Olam!”

  16. YES!!! It was ONLY CHABAD of Barcelona who took care from A to Z. My husband and son brought the food to airport and we hosted every yd who stayed in Barcelona for shabbos meals in the chabad house. Bh!!
