Former Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat Most Popular Candidate Among Likud Voters To Replace Netanyahu


A poll published by Channel 13 News on Tuesday evening surveyed Likud voters to discover the most likely candidate to lead the Likud party “the day after” Netanyahu.

Former Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat received 20% of the support from Likud voters to head Likud. MK Gideon Sa’ar received 17%, Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev – 12%, Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan – 6%, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein – 4% and Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz – 1%.

17% of Likud voters said that none of the candidates are suited to lead the party and 21% said they didn’t know.

The answers differed among the general public. Gideon Sa’ar received 28% of the support of the general public, Barkat received 14%, Edelstein – 7%, Erdan – 6%, Regev – 4% and Katz – 2%.

22% of the general public said that none of the candidates are suitable to lead Likud and 17% said they didn’t know.
