Three days after being born in the 32nd week of pregnancy, after his mother was killed in a vehicular accident on Highway 6, the baby was niftar on motzei Simchas Torah, bringing the death toll in the accident to three. Along with the mom and baby, a girl was killed as well.

Doctors fought to save the preemie boy for three days, but he was niftar on motzei Simchas Torah, having been delivered in the 32nd week of pregnancy as his mother, Irena Dovinsky A”H was killed in the accident last Shabbos on Israel’s Kvish (Highway) 6. The baby was born in critical condition and was pronounced dead during the night.

The accident occurred on Kvish 6 near the Ben-Shemen Interchange traveling towards Nachshonim. A 12-year-old daughter, Anat A”H, was killed as well, and the mother, Irena, was pregnant with the boy who died during the night. Alisa, the 7-year-old sister of Anat, was lightly injured in the accident.

In total, eight persons were injured in the two vehicle collision, including one in serious condition, two moderate and five with light injuries. Police are still probing the cause of the crash towards determining who was responsible. The preliminary findings of the investigation reveal that the car in which the two fatalities occurred hit a guardrail near Ben-Shemen.

The vehicle driven by the father/husband was thrown back to the road and turned around. A commercial vehicle heading north struck the vehicle head-on, primarily damaging the right-side of the vehicle, not the driver’s side.

The victims were taken to Beilinson and Sheba Hospitals.
