There was a serious vehicular accident during the night (Tuesday to Wednesday) on the Tunnel Highway connecting southern Jerusalem to Gush Etzion.

Two chareidi men in their 20s were injured seriously in an accident which involved the private vehicle they were driving in and a truck. The driver sustained head injuries and was unconscious at the time of transport from the scene to a hospital. The accident occurred at about 3:15AM at el-Hader Junction, between the two tunnels.

Magen David Adom paramedics and EMTs responded to the scene and treated four victims, including the two men in their 20s in serious condition. Some of the victims were trapped in the twisted wreck and had to be extricated from the vehicle by firemen. Two of the victims were listed in light condition at the time of transport.

Paramedic Aharon Adler explained it was a very serious accident in which the private vehicle was struck on the passenger side. “The driver of the vehicle was extricated first and he sustained serious head injuries and he was transported in a mobile intensive care unit to the hospital.

“The passenger to his side was trapped inside and while the complicated extrication process was taking place, together with IDF medical personnel, we began providing lifesaving treatment. He sustained thoracic injuries and was given units of blood on the scene in an effort to stabilize his condition. He was transferred immediately following the extrication from the vehicle to a paramedic ambulance, unconscious as well, and taken to a hospital”.

Two persons, the driver and a passenger in the truck, were transported to the hospital in light condition.
