Immigration and Absorption Minister Yoav Galant collapsed on Thursday during a special pre-Rosh Hashanah event that the Likud party was holding. The “toast” took an unexpected turn when the minister fainted and was summarily taken tot he hospital. Medical teams reported that Galant was in stable condition in spite of his sudden loss of consciousness.

The event, which was held at Ganei Ta’arucha in Tel Aviv was approaching it climax and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was just about to climb the podium to speak. Galant  then collapsed and only regained consciousness sometime later in Ichilov hospital where he was receiving care and treatment.

A Spokesperson for Galant’s office issued a statement later in the day which said: “During the Likud gathering earlier today, Minister Galant was feeling ill and was taken to Ichilov hospital. The Minister received a medical checkup and he is currently in good condition. Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke with Minister Galant not long ago and the Minister said that he wished to thank all those who are inquiring about his welfare.”
