Using a note or two of Bill Clinton’s play book, Democratic mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner stood in front of the cameras to assure voters that his misconducts are behind him, despite of the new photos that have emerged this morning. At a press conference this afternoon, alongside his wife Huma, Mr. Weiner sought to argue that he has recovered from recent inappropriate relationships, vowing to stay in the race for mayor despite the calls by some of his colleagues to quit the race.

“Some of these things happened before my resignation, some of them happened after, but the fact is that that was also the time that my wife and I were working through some things in our marriage,” Weiner said at the press conference in New York. “I’m glad these things are behind us. I know that this was a very public thing that we had happen to us. But by no means does it change the fundamentals of my feelings here, and that is that I want to bring my vision to the people of the city of New York. I hope they’re willing to still continue to give me a second chance.”

“This is entirely behind me,” he added.

Huma Abedin, Anthony Weiner’s wife, told reporters the episode has been put behind them.

“Anthony’s made some horrible mistakes, both before he resigned from Congress and after,” she said. “I have forgiven him … we are moving forward.”

Mr. Weiner said he would not drop out of the race. “One of the things I’m not going to do is get into a back and forth whether they are true or not…I’m prepared not to dispute anything that is out there, but suffice it to say that people are out there saying things that are not true.”
