After four hours of battling the blaze, firefighters declared the fire in the Israel Broadcasting Authority Building (IBA) ‘under control’.
The fire broke out on Shabbos, in the mythological IBA Building in Jerusalem’s Romeima neighborhood. Fire department officials report they received the call during the afternoon hours on Shabbos, with the caller describing “a great deal of smoke coming out of the building”. Seven fire trucks were dispatched, and the response was almost immediate as the IBA building is in proximity to the fire station.
Firemen battled the fire for four hours until declaring it ‘under control’. According to a KAN News report, the fire included archive rooms containing old documents, furniture and other items of historical significance. The fire is under investigation.
