State troopers issued 141 tickets for unrestrained or improperly restrained children on Sunday morning at a checkpoint at the entrance to Lake Welch State Park in the Town of Stony Point. Police identified 141 cases of children being transported in vehicles while lacking required child seats, booster seats, seat belts or a combination of those restraints.
The traffic check was part of a summer-long effort to ensure the safety of children in motor vehicles.
The motorists were issued tickets returnable to Stony Point Town Court.
Police also arrested Salvador Hurtaldo, 41, of Harlem, for driving with 10 suspensions against his driver’s license. He was charged with misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and released on bail.
