Gershon Mesika, who heads the Shomron Regional Council, took the initiative and succeeded in bringing rabbonim together for the sake of setting rules and ‘lowering the tone’ following the recent bout of scathing statements that led to harsh responses and a great deal of sinas chinam.
A number of rabbonim affiliated with Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita met with dati leumi rabbonim, all agreeing to refrain from publically speaking in an unacceptable fashion against one another, to refrain from incitement and inflammatory statements and to work towards achdus.
Among the rabbonim taking part in the Jerusalem meeting were Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, Rabbi Chaim Druckman, Rabbi Elyakim Levanon, Rabbi Reuven Elbaz, Rabbi Baruch Shraga, Rabbi Meir Mazuz and Rabbi Yitzchak Cohen.
All the participants agreed that they must clear the air and begin anew amid difficult weeks in which the dati leumi community sustained many verbal blows, at times leading to responses that were perceived as less than appropriate.
Mesika explained that when realizing the quid pro quo verbal assault were increasing in intensity, and davka as the Nine Days were upon us, he felt compelled to act and he did just that.

I am glad they agreed to abide by the Torah.
Pretty embarassing
Interesting phrasing by YWN – “the dati leumi community sustained many verbal blows, at times leading to responses that were perceived as less than appropriate”. How about “Shas-affiliated Rabbonim attacked the Dati Leumi community in ways that were less than appropriate”. Your phraseology reminds me of the old “he hit me back first” excuse that young children use. Put the blame where it belongs, please

Shtuyot!
Who will teach Shas and the Meah Searim nuts derech eretz? They already re-wrote the Torah on the subject. All’s fair in love and politics!
