A chareidi ‘get’ refuser, leaving his wife an agunah for a decade, tried to enter Israel to attend the chasenah of his son, arriving under a fake identity. However, his attempt failed as he was arrested. Nevertheless, the recalcitrant husband remains adamant in his refusal to give his wife a ‘get’.
According to the report released by Chanan Greenwald in the daily Yisrael Hayom newspaper, the husband according to the experts is among the most difficult agunah cases being dealt with worldwide. The husband and wife are reportedly Americans, and were married around 23 years ago.
A decade ago, after their marriage collapsed, accompanied by complaints of severe violence by the husband, the woman decided to leave him and get divorced, taking their four children. The man, who originally was going to give a ‘get’, changed his mind. In a rare move, the Belzer Rebbe Shlita ruled that the husband must give a ‘get’ to his wife without condition and without delay. This too did not persuade him to release his wife.

Six years ago, the man visited Israel. Authorities succeeded in obtaining a judicial order prohibiting him from leaving the country. The Rabbanut beis din succeeded in preventing him from leaving the country back then, but he nevertheless succeeded, using the passport of his brother.
Last Thursday, attorney and Rabbinical Advocate Tehila Cohen of the Yad L’Isha organization, which is affiliated with the Ohr Torah Stone network, learned the recalcitrant husband boarded a plane heading to Israel to attend his son’s wedding. Attorney Cohen has been working to assist the wife during the past two years. After learning of his imminent arrival, police began monitoring the flight along with officials from the Interior Ministry, beginning to scan the incoming passengers towards identifying the husband.
At about 3:45PM on a Friday afternoon, the husband being sought got off of the plane and police detectives were at the airport waiting to greet him. They followed him to passport control, where he presented someone else’s passport. He was immediately taken into custody and a search revealed he had another passport, from Canada.
It was about two hours before Shabbos in Jerusalem, but nevertheless, a beis din convened in Yerushalayim, and the dayanim decided he would remain in jail until the next session of the beis din.
However, even the threat of prison does not seem to have persuaded the husband, who was brought before the beis din again under a police escort, a number of hours before his son’s wedding. He refused to give his wife a ‘get’. The dad was not released to attend the wedding because back in 2013, when he was permitted to attend the wedding of another son, he fled and managed to leave Israel as well, as reported earlier.
A considerable effort was made prior to the wedding of his son towards securing a ‘get’, but unfortunately, those efforts were unsuccessful. Penina Omer of Yad L’Isha explains that sadly, it appears the dad preferred to sit in jail rather than dance at his son’s wedding.
Another hearing of the Supreme Beis Din was held on Monday at the husband’s request, and he continues to refuse to release his wife, and as a result, remains in jail.
In the past year, the Chief Rabbinate has resolved the cases of 60 agunos who are not citizens of Israel, who would not have been released from their status without the Chief Rabbinate and state’s involvement.

The government should file charges for leaving and entering Israel illegally and they should also file charges against the owners of the passports that were being used.

His name, where he lives, his business etc. etc. so that those who value the judgment of the Belzer Rebbe Shlita, the Supreme Rabbinical Court of Israel and last but not least, decency, can decide whether they want anything to do with this animal.
What a sad story. What could have happened that posseses this man with so much hatred. People need to learn to be mevater . I know that there are two sides to this story . I am sure they both wronged each other . However I cannot see how this helps this man. Hashem Yirachem on the poor children.

He should not be released for any reason until a get was given. He should also be denied any further appearances in front of judges.
After a few weeks, it is time to reduce the sizes of his meal rations to the barely needed for survival. He will be hungry, angry, lonely, and miserable. And he deserves every drop of suffering possible. If the wife is meritorious, his corpse will be found, buried in an obscure, dishonorable location, and she will be freed as an almonoh.
I would also daven that those supporting this rish’us be publicly identified and appropriately shamed.

ive had the same opinion than all of you when i first saw the big built board hanging on the streets in BP i was as mad as all of you and had the same opinion …so i decided to dig a bit deeper and try to understand the story from both sides (every story has two sides) –
first i want to tell you all that a get was given and the so called agunah didnt want to accept it – its not a “get” issue its a total money issue – took all the info from-Jleeks .
My question (which hasn’t been brought up yet) is why his son would welcome his father at his wedding. Of all occasions in life a chassunah, the chussun (his son) and kallah (soon to be daughter-in-law) should absolutely forbid their father partaking in the wedding unless a Get is given to their dear mother. If I were the kallah, and my soon-to-be husband welcomed his father at their wedding, then I’d highly reconsider marrying this person. Run! If the father shows up at the wedding, police should be called to escort the individual for trespassing at a private party.
Yes, what this man is doing is horrendous, but fantasizing about his death isn’t the Torah way. We should hope that he does teshuvah, gives his wife the get without further difficulty, and begins to live a life of true Torah observance. Whatever he has done, there is still a pinteleh yid in there, and we should hope that it’s released soon. Yom Kippur is coming – hopefully he will think about it and correct his ways.

2-He did NOT abuse his wife!

Just to understand how significant that is the fact that since the Belza Rebbe became Rebbe he NEVER issued such a statement!

A get was given to a Shaliach in the presence of prominent Dayanim. Everything that The True Story posted above is correct. . My kids were at the wedding and told me that the Chosson didn’t want to go to the Chuppah without his father.He didn’t even want his mother at the wedding. He hasn’t spoken to her in years because of what she did to his father.The Chosson and Kallah went to visit the father after the wedding. I have copies of letters from the Dayanim that were present when he signed the Get. She wants MONEY. LOTS OF MONEY.

He actually gave a Kosher Get 3 weeks ago by Rabbis Herbst, Deutch & Fuchs (of belz) written by the known Get Sofer Rabbi Lichter and 2 kosher eidim and was Given over to a Shliach and until this day she never came to pick it up , due to the fact that the shliach will only give it to her after her “helpers” return the stolen properties that were stolen on her behalf to be returned pending a get….
2nd of all if he entered with fake identity… How would they know who he is??

A GET was given and the “wife” does not want to except. I was told its a long story, with many dishonest people involved. Please do not publish details which are not fully true.
The wedding was for his oldest sons wedding, and he did not have another sons wedding in 2013. He entered Isreal with his own Passport hoping he will be able to attend the simcha. From the chusens point of few, he will never forgive his mother, for what she did. He did not come out to his own wedding until 9:30pm because he refused to go under the chupah without his fathers presents.
Please keep in mind that there are peoples lives involved here, and there is always 2 sides to each story.
