100s of Women Travel to Uman for Tu B’Av

umanHundreds of women this year as in past years, will be spending Tu B’Av in Uman at the tziyun of Rav Nachman ZY”A. The day has become one viewed as a segulah for the women, many bringing their daughters to the tziyun to be mispallel on “Rosh Hashanah for Women”.

Most of the women will be arriving in organized groups. They will be heading to the tziyun to recite Tikun HaKlali which was compiled by Rav Nachman along with tefilos for a zivug.

The dining hall will also serve as a venue for music, singing and shiurei Torah. There will also be the סעודות אמנים and hafroshos challah.

The Breslov International Center, which oversees activities at the tziyun year-round, will also be running the Tu B’Av events. Director Rav Shimon Buskila explains there will be many security guards on hand to prevent theft and chas v’sholom any attempt to disturb the women. Buskila has also been in touch with local police, which will be adding patrols towards maintaining a vigilant eye on events.

  1. Aha, so Amuka is old school! What’s this sudden obsession with Uman? And besides, we were told that if you eliminate the “age gap”, all Shidduchim “problems” will be solved! No need to travel anywhere. A generation that relies on “Segula’s” (and not on the Rebono shell olam) is a lost generation!

  2. It’s also a segula to stay home, take care of the family, and not waste money on useless trips that can be spent better elsewhere.

  3. takahmamash: It is also a segula to have a happy fulfilling life AND to take better care of her family for a women to take a small vacation. And if they want to use that vacation to daven at a tzaddik’s tzion, howis that your business?

As for Rosh Hashana for women. There is only one rosh hashana and that is in tishrei for women too. Is there a source for calling it that, or is it just plain nonsense?

  4. This “new school” of going to Uman for Tu B’av is actually something brilliantly marketed by the travel and tour organizations in Israel. They created this (fake) Segula a number of years ago. It seems to have caught on and business is very good for them this time of year. They are also partnered with all the Jewish owned hotels in Uman and get kickback from them for each guest they send.

  5. Once certain business people set up shop- travel arrangements, stores, hotels etc., they must find as many times of year as possible to maximise their profits. And there are plenty of fools with or without tzuris who will believe anything printed. I believe that 99% of the people who go- even for Rosh Hashana do not belong there. They are turning Judaism into a shallow carnival of superstitions.
