“Aish HaTorah is…the greatest institution for teshuva in the world. Rav Yitzchak Berkovits is [the] most fitting person to guide this institution,” exclaimed Rav Yaakov Hillel Shlit”a, Rosh Yeshiva of Ahavat Shalom, to dignitaries and Rabbanim from around the world gathered for the historic Inauguration of Rav Berkovits, Shlit’a as Rosh HaYeshiva of Aish HaTorah. The event took place on Rosh Chodesh Elul at the Aish World Center in Jerusalem overlooking the Kotel, and was live-streamed to thousands around the world.

“Today is a historic day,” said Rabbi Steven Burg, Aish Global CEO. “I could not be happier to give the proverbial keys to this building to Rav Yitzchak Berkovits. There is no one that I know with a greater heart and caring for Klal Yisroel. He cares about every Jew.”

Rav Berkovits is the Posek and spiritual guide for hundreds of Jewish outreach professionals and many organizations around the world. The synergy of Rav Berkovits’s influence combined with Aish’s global reach creates a tremendous kiruv opportunity, creating new avenues to be mekarev Jews who have yet to be reached.

Rav Yitzchak Berkovits is the founder and Rosh Kollel of The Jerusalem Kollel, dedicated to training rabbis and Orthodox Jewish outreach counselors for communities in the Jewish diaspora. And, the Rav has been the Mashgiach Ruchani of Aish HaTorah for 16 years before assuming the position of Rosh HaYeshiva.
