New York City police say officers shot and killed a man who fired a gun at their vehicle as they looked for a shooting suspect in Queens.
Chief of Department Terence Monahan says officers exited their unmarked car and returned fire, striking the man in the head at around 2:20 a.m. Friday. He was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.
Monahan says the man fit the description of a suspect in an earlier shooting that left a 26-year-old man hospitalized in critical condition.
The chief says officers were searching an area about eight blocks south of the Long Island Rail Road’s Jamaica Station when the suspect saw them and started firing. No officers were hit.
A handgun was found at the scene. The officers were taken to a hospital for evaluation.

How dare the NYPD shoot an innocent man dead! Just because he tried to kill them is no justification! Like the Garner family this guy’s family should get 6 million tax payer dollars and the officer should be locked up for life!
GOOD WORK, POLICE OFFICER! KOL HAKAVOD!
put them all on trial for killing an enterprising young man no different than Eric Garner whose rap sheet extended to 5 pages.
