Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan addressed the graduation of talmidim completing a six-year hesder program in Yeshivat Meir Harel, Modi’in.
The deputy minister explained how his party had the opportunity to cut budgets to chareidi yeshivos and save hesder, but the party would not hear of it. He explains that even though the chareidim do not acknowledge them or their efforts, the efforts to save yeshivos will continue because this is what Bayit Yehudi remains committed to.
Rav Ben-Dahan explained that he cannot say that there will not be budget cuts, but he promises the cuts will be far less severe than Finance Minister Yair Lapid indicated and he and other party leaders will not permit the state budget to destroy yeshivos in Eretz Yisrael, chareidi or dati leumi.

What struck me very forcefully this Tisha B’Av, as I learned the Gemara in Gittin, is that almost everyone cited as involved in the destruction of Bayit Sheyni was acting with (what they thought) was the best of motives.
even though the chareidim do not acknowledge them or their efforts—–SAD and perhaps true.
Rav Dahan is an Ish Shalom and an honest broker.
Kol Hakavod…
If they do it – it is to save THEIR Yeshivot GeDolas – that are NOT HESDER
This Bennett never saw the inside of a Yeshiva at all
HOw could they go with Lapid
End the alliance with Yesh Atid, and there would be no problem finding an alternative: probably involving ending conscription – which appears to be what the people running the IDF are leaning towards anyways – or some sort of conscientious objection (in either case combined with economic incentives for serving in the IDF).
Likud plus Bayit Yehudi plus the hareidim are enough to form a government. It’s all up to Bayit Yehudi.
Lets pray he is successful
staying in a government that cuts the funding for yeshivas even for one penny is bad enough
There are two incredibly simple pshats behind Rabbi Ben-Dahan’s statement. First, Religious Zionists like yeshivot. Second, their leaders’ take on budget cuts is that the rate of cut, if any, should not exceed that of the state budget all told, and that no class of yeshiva should be favored at others’ expense.
4 & 5 Bayit Yehudi extended a willing & able hand to build a coalition with the Charedi parties and they answered NO, NO, NO….since they believed that they could join Likud without BY.
Stop quoting and relying on LIES!!!!!
#7 Are you aware of the history of Knesset coalition and partnerships?
The Charedi parties remained in the govt and were silent when YESHIVOS WERE CLOSED, SHULS WERE DESTROYED and GRAVES WERE MOVED from Gush Katif during the explusion. Parties remain in anti-Torah government when it is beneficial to them. Honest Reporting is a concept not utilized by many.
zionflag,
do you know your history
shinui was in the 16th knesset which lasted from 2003-2006 (the time when gush katif happened)
no frum parties were with yair’s father but bayit hayehudi are with him
zionflag,
you are right, I was wrong, Gush Katif happened with UTJ in the coalition and shinui and NRP were out
