MK (Yesh Atid) Dr. Ruth Calderon grabbed the media spotlight in her first Knesset plenum address, a shiur in Talmud, opting to exhibit her skills in the Oral Law. She has a doctorate in Talmud from Bar Ilan University.
Calderon, who drove home her point with the Gemara lecture now turned to Knesset officials asking for a dedicated powder room for female MKs – a place to put on their makeup. She explains that with the entry of female lawmakers there are new needs, adding that after remaining in Knesset for 12 hours, a female MK must freshen up before going to the podium to address the plenum. She explained that she wants a dedicated room and cosmetician and each MK will pay for her own makeup treatments, citing that these days, with ongoing efforts surrounding the budget, they are in the building for hours and hours without a break. Calderon explains that from her perspective this is a matter of having respect for the Knesset and as such, females should appear appropriate when addressing the forum.
MK (Likud) Miri Regev has a somewhat different outlook. She adds that davka now, when the budgetary matters are so pressing she feels entreating such a request is inappropriate at best. “While parents are trying to find money to send children to camp it would be ridiculous for us to talk about funding a powder room” she adds.

This week’s Haftorah 1:11-13
IS she implying that Male MK’s are somehow not dressed properly becuase they do not have makeup?
Or does she men that Males and Femaes are different?
I don’t know which is correct, but Wikipedia says her doctorate is from Hebrew University, not Bar Ilan.
What Hashgacha! Ruth would make a great Chavrusa for Dov Lipman, the grosser talmid chuchum! Piron can be the shoel umashiv. Wow, they can turn the Kinesset into a Bais Medrash (as long as everyone serves in the IDF)!
Why can’t the Dr. Just use the mirror in the ladies room?
I don’t understand how the two are connected. This woman clearly knows gemara very, very well, and impressively fielded the aggressive questions aimed at her from the chareidi parties (don’t they want more talmud torah???).
The fact that she also wants to have makeup reapplied in the knesset is not a big deal- especially since they are working overtime. Why do you assume the worst of her?
Sinas Chinum on Erev T’ B’Av, how nice!
instead of asking why we assume the worst of her why do you always make excuses for them you should use your ability to see positive and apply it to the chareidim but I guess you’re real intention is not to speak positive it’s rather just to smear the frum
