MK Yaakov Asher Addresses Court Decision Prohibiting Separate Seating At Afula Concert

MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Yaakov Asher addressed the Nazareth District Court ruling backing the Afula City Hall decision, which prohibits separate seating at this week’s Moti Steinmetz concert in Afula. As a result, Steinmetz reportedly pulled out of the concert.

Asher stated, “Our response [to the ruling] is that is will never be and we will continue doing everything in Taharas HaKodesh”. Asher responded on Monday against the controversial ruling during the opening event of summer camps in Bnei Brak. “When we are on vacation, each talmid of cheder remains a Yiras Shomayim, a child with good midos as if we are in the middle of the year. There is no falling apart” he exclaimed.

“The same is true for bnei yeshivos, avreichim, as we are not like the [general] public, when they are on vacation, they simply do as they wish. Everything according to halacha [for us] in line with the pure (tahor) education” he added.

Asher then began to address the court ruling backing the Afula City Hall decision. “I am telling the court from this place that it sat and ruled yesterday that the chareidi tzibur is compelled to appear like another tzibur. Our response – it will never be. We will continue everything B’taharas Hakodesh in line with halacha.

“Even our cultural activities and our camps. Everything will be as if we are in the midst of a zman. We do not fall apart. We do not have vacation. We do not travel to some type of island around the world to go crazy. We do not fall apart from our weapons; Torah, Yiras Shomayim and good midos”.
