After Tiveria Mayor Ron Kobi lost his appeal regarding the Interior Ministry decision to reinstate him along with the city council, the Union of Local Authorities announced it does not back Kobi and it agrees that the current council should be reinstated along with Kobi, despite his objections.

Kobi filed an appeal against Interior Minister Aryeh Deri and his office after the decision was made to reinstate him and his council, permitting additional time to pass a city budget, which Kobi failed to due despite making five attempts. Kobi took his case to the High Court of Justice, but he was disappointed when the court rejected his case.

In its response to the High Court, the Union of Local Authorities explained it backs the court’s decision and not Mayor Kobi, who hoped he would enjoy the backing of the organization.
