Last Monday, in a memorable event at the City Tower Hotel in Ramat Gan, Shutfim Tzedakah Fund was launched under the venerable auspices of Rosh Yeshivat Kisei Rachamim Maran Hagaon Harav Meir Mazuz, shlit”a. The Fund, which operates in the framework of Kisei Rachamim Institutions, shall assist and support Torah families suffering from severe financial crisis and poverty.
In the course of the event, thousands of Yeshivah talmidim and alumni, pledged to assist the campaign. Many also undertook significant financial goals that they will endeavor to meet during the two-day global campaign that takes place this week, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 6-7.
The Rosh Yeshivah delivered a stirring address at the event, divulging to his audience that he is alive only through a miracle and attributing the miracle to the myriad acts of chesed that he performed throughout his life. Harav Mazuz explicitly promised that anyone who supports and assists the campaign shall be repaid double! It is known that the blessings and promises of this esteemed tzaddik are never refused, and throughout the years, his brachot are always fulfilled.
The Rosh Yeshivah’s last promise enhances the previous blessing that he inscribed in his holy writings regarding the importance of donating to Shutfim and supporting Torah scholars.
“Whoever supports avreichim who learn Torah in poverty and privation,” wrote the Rosh Yeshivah in a special written appeal, “Hakadosh Baruch Hu shall bless him doubly, and he shall never know want or pain throughout his life.”
The Rosh Yeshivah has pledged to pray on behalf of all donors and supporters of his sacred fund. On Thursday night following the campaign, the Rosh Yeshivah shall travel to the Kotel and lead an exalted prayer and Tikkun Chatzot, in the course of which he shall mention the names of all donors who united on these days to build the tzedakah fund.
The Rosh Yeshivah’s brother Hagaon Harav Tzemach Mazuz, shlit”a, who serves as menahel of the Yeshivah, spoke at the event. Following him were the directors of Kisei Rachamim Institutions, who are personally acquainted with the heartbreaking circumstances of many suffering families and heeded the Rosh Yeshivah’s call to found the new tzedakah fund. Harav Barak Rabi, shlit”a, Harav Sasson Trabelsi, shlit”a, and Harav Mordechai Mazuz, shlit”a, likewise inspired the guests with their passionate lectures, highlighting aspects of the mitzvah of tzedakah and emphasizing the magnitude of participating in this endeavor to save hundreds of families from financial distress and despair.
