A one-and-a-half-years-old infant was badly burned by boiling soup in his own home in Modi’in Illit on Wednesday afternoon. Volunteer first responders from United Hatzalah and ambulance teams from Magen David Adom responded to the medical emergency and treated the child at the scene before transporting him to the burn center in Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.
The boys parents rushed him to the closest medical clinic for help and said that the boy was injured after hot soup spilled on him.
United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Shmuel Rosengarten said: “The boy sustained serious burns on his upper body. After receiving initial treatment where we found him at the health clinic, the boy was transported to Tel Hashomer hospital for further care.”
The frequency of such instances over the past few weeks caused United Hatzalah to issue a statement requesting that parents pay close attention to children and infants and never leave them alone when they can access the kitchen area.
