The report stated that the most popular Jewish name for boys was David with 1447 boys given that name last year. the most popular name for Jewish girls was Tamar for the third year in a row with 1,289 girls given that name.

Among the entire population of Israel the most popular name for boys was Mohammed with 2,646 boys given that name. 1 out of every 7 Muslim children was given the name Mohammed. While this may seem like a lot, the trend of naming Muslim boys Mohammed is actually declining.

The second most popular name given in Israel was Ariel, with 1,938 children given that name (1,323 boys and 615 girls). Ranking third overall was the name Yosef, with 1,848 children being given that name, 1,174 Jewish boys and 640 Arabs and 34 other.

The second most common name for Jewish girls was Maya. The name Noa, which was the most popular name for a long while descended to 4th on the list last year.

The most common name for Muslim girls was Miriam with 523 Muslim girls given that name.
