Bnei Brak City Hall published a tender for an amusement park to operate during bein hazmanim. The deadline for submitting a bid was Tuesday, July 30, 2019. On the designated area, a carousel and rollercoaster already stands.

According to the News12 report, Bnei Brak City Hall announced its decision to establish an amusement park, publishing a tender. According to the kol korei, directed at participants in the tender, the amusement park is planned on an 11 dunam (2.75 acres) area and one may apply to the tender until July 30, 2019. The tender was published a day before it expired.

One applicant, Itamar Manheimer, realized that the entire tender is a scam and the city already made its decision, and the tender was being ‘published’ to cover itself legally. A rollercoaster already exists on the area along with a merry-go-round.

When Itamar confronted a city official, he responded, “This is the first I am hearing of this”. When asked, the operator of the amusement park told Itamar he is not paying rent, and he plans to open, “if I win the tender of not!”

Bnei Brak City Hall told News12 that the tender does not refer to the area where the rollercoaster is and the land on which it will be established is not owned by the city.

This occurred at the end of 2017, when Haaretz correspondent Aharon Rabinowitz was probing city tenders during the tenure of Mayor Chanoch Zeibert. He showed that it was city officials won tenders, as he knew was the case, as tenders were fixed all too often.

Current mayor, Avraham Rubinstein, promises this will not be the case during his tenure, admitting he has much work ahead to make sure the city operates within the framework of the law.
