The 40-year-old man who was shot and killed during a dispute over a parking space in the Azrieli Center in Ramle on Sunday has been identified as Ofer Hasdai, the father of two chronically ill daughters and a disable wife.
Ofer Z”L was shot dead by a 74-year-old man, who is in custody. There was an argument over a parking spot when the elderly shooter fired at him, striking him in the heart. He was transported to Assaf HaRofeh Hospital in Rishon L’Tzion in critical condition, pronounced dead a short time following his arrival.
Hasdai is survived by three daughters, two of whom have serious chronic health problems; with one suffering from cerebral palsy and the other from muscular dystrophy. Hasdai’s shocked widow, whose husband was murdered before her eyes, also suffers from muscular dystrophy.
Hasdai was especially devoted to caring for his family and according to the family’s acquaintances, he even left his job to help his wife and his daughters, treating them all with “great devotion” they explain.
According to his wife, Hasdai pointed out to the couple that just parked that they had entered the space unevenly, and as a result, blocked two parking spots. The woman began hitting him with her purse and when he defended himself and pushed her, her husband shot him three times, with the third shot entering his heart. He was mortally wounded, dying a short time later.
Despite the efforts of MDA paramedics and the emergency room team, there was nothing to be done.
