Israeli Arrow3 Missile Tests in Alaska Successful

According to Israel Defense Ministry officials, Israel on Sunday successfully carried out a series of test of the Arrow3 missile system in cooperation with America’s Missile Defense Agency (AMDA). The tests were carried out in Alaska, with Israel announcing a successful ‘hit-to-kill’ launch against high altitude targets.

The Arrow3 system is intended for use against threats outside of the atmosphere. The tests on Sunday were conducted with joint cooperation of Israel Aerospace Industries, the Israel Defense Ministry, the IAF, and the AMDA.

The report stated that the American AN\TPY2 radar system was used in the tests, which also tested the operational connection between the US radar system and the Arrow3 missile.

United States Vice Admiral Jon A. Hill, the director of the AMDA, called the successful tests “another milestone in the development of the Arrow weapon system.”

Prime Minister/Defense Minister Binyamin Netanyahu released the following statements following the successful tests:

“In recent weeks we have carried out three pioneering secret experiments of the Arrow3 missile. These experiments were held in the US, in Alaska, in full cooperation with our great ally the US.

“They were successful beyond any imagination. The Arrow3 – with complete success – intercepted ballistic missiles beyond the atmosphere at unprecedented altitudes and speeds. The execution was perfect – all precise hits.

“Today Israel has the ability to act against ballistic missiles that could be launched against us from Iran or anywhere else. This is a great achievement for the security of Israel.

“All of our enemies should know that we will overcome them in both defense and offense.”
