In a move that will strengthen the left-wing, the Israel Democratic party headed Ehud Barak has united with the left-wing Meretz party.
The list will be headed by Meretz chairman, MK Nitzan Horowitz, followed by Stav Sapir, who was the person who negotiated the deal. Ehud Barak, as per his request, will be in the 10th slot. Major-General (reserves) Yair Golan, a former IDF Deputy Chief of Staff, will be in the third slot.
The latest polls show that neither the right-wing/chareidi bloc or the left-wing/centrist bloc has enough seats to form a coalition. A union between parties generally means the parties will receive more votes than they would than if they run independent of one another.
