Once again, Palestinians have sabotaged a water main in the Southern Hebron Hills district, apparently in response to last week’s discovery of a major illegal connection of water leading to the PA (Palestinian Authority).
During the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, a major water main feeding area Jewish community was sabotaged, compelling Mekorot Water Company technicians to respond to repair the break.
Last week, security forces in Hebron during the night arrested 32 suspects on suspicion of stealing water and compromising the state’s water infrastructure to the tune of 4 million cubic meters of water valued at NIS tens of millions.
When sufficient evidence was gathered in the investigation, the IDF and other agencies, including the Civil Administration arrested the 32 suspects from PA communities in the Southern Hebron Hills area south of Hebron.
Stolen water was also used to feed a system that was set in place by the suspects to irrigate their agricultural fields. The actions of the suspects also compromised the integrity of the water, which was found to be lower than the standard because of the illegal connections to the area’s water infrastructure.
