MK (Bayit Yehudi), Moti Yogev, a member of the United Right-Wing Party (URWP) insists that the reason he and others object to Ayelet Shaked running the party is not because she is a woman, but because she is not Shomer Shabbos, as per the letter from the prominent rabbonim, who insisted that the leader of the party may not be a person who is not Shomer Shabbos.
To drive the point home, Yogev revealed the leadership slot of the united party was offered to a woman, Beit Shemesh Mayor Dr. Aliza Bloch, Mehadrin News reports.
It is assumed that Dr. Bloch turned down the offer as she did when offered an opportunity to enter the Knesset in the last election.
