Fake News? New Right Party Denies Shaked’s Statement

The disinformation surrounding former justice minister, Ayelet Shaked, continues. Latest reports state that a “final decision” has been reached between her and New Right party leader Naftali Bennet, a former minister of education.

However, after the reports were released, Bennet used his twitter account to announce no final decision has been reached, as he and Shaked continue negotiations as to what she is going to do.

Alternatively, Shaked has been offered the number two slot on the Bayit Yehudi list, as that party hopes to once again represent a united right-wing front as it did in the last election. While polling the dati leumi community has revealed most dati leumi voters wish to see Shaked heading a right-wing front, prominent rabbonim from the community released a letter than they feel only a Shomer Shabbos person may lead the party, and Shaked does not fit this description. In addition, the current Bayit Yehudi leader, Rabbi Rafi Peretz, has indicated he is not wiling to step down, despite Shaked’s popularity.

Clearly, Shaked carries significant electoral popularity, as seen in recent polls.

For now, the fake news and disinformation continues as the political system waits and watches to see where Shaked will land ahead of elections for the 22nd Knesset.
